A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD) who is an expert in treating emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns and has completed additional training in diagnosing and treating the broad spectrum of mental illness, including mood disorders, ADHD and other impulse control disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders and psychotic disorders. Psychiatrists receive training in emergency medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, neurology and psychology. As physicians, psychiatrists approach problems from biological, psychological and social perspectives of care and are able to treat patients accordingly with medication, multiple therapy modalities and interventional procedures like Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), neuromodulators, and management of Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS).
While Dr. Cutler does not participate in any insurance plans in her private practice, she is more than happy to help her patients obtain reimbursement from their insurance companies upon request. Dr. Cutler also recommends that potential patients consider their out of network benefits for mental health or behavioral health services.

Dr. Cutler has reserved a limited number of spots for in person Saturday appointments in Manhattan and is available to see patients via telepsychiatry, as well.
Comprehensive initial psychiatric assessments for children and adolescents consist of three 50 minutes sessions - one session between the patient and Dr. Cutler, one session between Dr. Cutler and the patient's guardian/parent(s) and one session with the patient, guardian/parent(s) and Dr. Cutler. These sessions can be done sequentially or broken up over the course of two weeks, as telepsychiatry appointments or all in person. Dr. Cutler understands that families have busy schedules and is willing to accommodate patients within reason.
Comprehensive initial psychiatric assessments for adults ages 18 and older consist of 1-2 sessions between the patient and Dr. Cutler.
Follow up appointments for children and adolescents are 45 minutes in length and must include a parent or guardian. Follow up appointments for adults are 30 minutes in length.
Marriage and Family Therapy sessions consist of 50-minute appointments.
Dr. Cutler approaches complex issues from a biological, psychological and social perspective while employing evidence-based medical practice and recommendations for all patients. Typically, outpatient treatment involves a combination of psychotherapy and medication management.
